Itinerary

  • Upon arrival at Narita or Haneda Airport, make your way to your hotel in Tokyo by public transit or private transfer (available as an add-on). The Skyliner Limited Express takes around 35–40 minutes to Nippori Station.
  • After checking in, the evening is yours. Restaurant recommendations provided, or browse day tours in the TOMOGO! app to get a head start on Tokyo.
  • Meet your local expert at Nippori Station for the Yanaka Walking Tour, one of Tokyo's most well-preserved neighbourhoods, with wooden townhouses, old-fashioned shops, and the retro Yanaka Ginza shopping street.
  • Explore the historic streets of Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi, sampling local snacks and discovering the laid-back shitamachi atmosphere that makes this area special.
  • Afternoon and evening free with recommendations.
  • Choose between two full-day experiences like: a hands-on day making washi postcards or Japanese fans, catching and cooking your own fish, and finishing with an onsen; or a dyeing and repurpose clothing activity, choosing from T-shirts, hoodies, and more, or bringing your own garments to transform.
  • Evening free with recommendations.
  • Send your luggage ahead to your Kyoto hotel via luggage transfer before checking out.
  • Travel from Shinjuku Station to Hakone-Yumoto by the Odakyu Romancecar (approx. 1 hr 20 min).
  • Join the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise across Lake Ashi, taking in views of the torii gate of Hakone-jinja Shrine and Mt. Fuji on clear days.
  • Ride the Hakone Ropeway up to Owakudani, an active volcanic area famous for its black eggs hard-boiled in natural hot springs, said to add seven years to your life.
  • Check in to your accommodation in Hakone for the evening.
  • Check out and travel from Hakone-Yumoto to Odawara Station, then board the Shinkansen to Kyoto Station (approx. 2 hrs).
  • After hotel check-in, your local expert meets you in the lobby for the Kyoto Omakase Tour, an afternoon shaped entirely around your interests, from cultural landmarks and hidden streets to street food and upscale dining.
  • Evening free with recommendations.
  • Meet your local expert for the Kyoto East Tour, a walk through the Philosopher's Path and the temple-rich eastern foothills, visiting Nanzenji and discovering lesser-known shrines and gardens along the way.
  • After lunch, choose between two experiences like: a traditional matcha tea ceremony in a private teahouse, learning the etiquette and ritual of preparing your own matcha; or a kimono rental experience.
  • Evening free with recommendations.
  • Travel from Kyoto to Nara by train (Nara Line) and meet your guide at Nara Station. Walk through Nara Park, home to over 1,000 freely roaming sacred deer, and visit Tōdai-ji Temple, housing one of the world's largest bronze Buddha statues.
  • Afternoon free to explore the Nara National Museum or the preserved machiya townhouses of Naramachi historic district.
