We met Hiroki in Akihabara. Hiroki had so much wisdom about the culture. He took us to a few anime/ manga stores, a large building with all varieties of anime items, a technology building, and an arcade. Though at times we felt as though we were doing a tireless amount of walking and somewhat seemed to be just walking through buildings, we did see a lot! Hiroki was kind, and though he didn't get to know us deeply, he navigated around the interests of our group. We particularly liked the arcade, where we played awesome games that ranged from many puck air hockey, to racing games, to the large hilarious photo booth. At the end, Hiroki took us to a shrine where he shared some of his expertise about the difference between temples and shrines and the history/ religions of both. This was very interesting, and we wished we would have asked Hiroki to take us on a more historical/ cultural tour, as he might have been better suited for that. I would also say that stopping somewhere for a drink/ snack might have been nice (if there was a place with some of these items along the way).

It was very nice for me to get to know Hiroki during my tour at Tokyo’s Asakusa district. He was very knowledgeable with the area and he showed me the traditions of Buddhist temples including lighting incense sticks and the specific ritual for washing hands. After Senso-ji, he took me to a lesser known but a similarly important temple nearby and we had a nice lunch at a locally popular restaurant. I highly recommend Hiroki to anyone looking for arranging their TOMOGO tour.
