Overview

Ueno is one of those rare Tokyo neighborhoods where you can stand in a centuries-old shrine and hear a street market around the corner. From the sweeping greenery of Ueno Park to the packed stalls of Ameyoko Shopping Street, the area holds more layers than most visitors have time to find on their own.

With your Local Expert, explore both the iconic and the overlooked: historic temples, hidden gardens, and the everyday street life that makes Ueno one of Tokyo's most distinctive neighborhoods. Your Local Expert shares the history, the context, and the shortcuts, so you leave with a real understanding of what makes this part of the city tick.

Ueno Park was bustling with people, vendor stalls, and cherry blossoms! It was a beautiful space and I’d highly recommend to anyone. Shrines, the museums, and all right at the train station. The surrounding area also amazing.

Really was really beautiful but I may have chose a season (Winter) where of course most of the trees are "dead" but !! Some of the cherry trees (like 1 or 3 burgeons) were flourishing. We went around to explore the Buddhist and shinto temple. TLDR I had a really great moment and I would reccomend it !!

Ueno is walkable, but without a local you get a nice park and a busy market. With one, you get the history behind the shrines, the right stalls in Ameyoko, and the hidden corners most people walk straight past.

A.

Most repeat visitors stop at the park and Ameyoko. This tour goes into the parts just outside that circuit, hidden gardens and everyday Ueno that doesn't make it onto most itineraries.

A.

Please wear breathable clothing and comfortable footwear for walking.
