The tour is a fully private, guided walking experience through a mix of Tsukiji's most interesting and lesser-known areas. The itinerary is completely customizable, but can, for example, include stops at Tsukiji Outer Market, Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, Namiyoke Inari Shrine, and the artisan kitchenware shops. During the tour, your local expert will share local stories and historical insight at each stop. They will also provide personalized recommendations for the rest of your time in Tokyo. Entrance fees, food, drinks and transport are not included unless otherwise stated at booking.

Most stalls and restaurants in the Tsukiji Outer Market start winding down in the early afternoon, with many closing by 2pm. The sweet spot for visitors is between 9am and midday, when the market is in full swing and most shops are open.
Food and drinks are not included in this tour. We recommend bringing cash if you'd like to stop at a local café, bar, snack store or restaurant during the tour, where you can order and pay for any food or beverages you choose.

Meet your local expert beside the main gate of Tsukiji Hongwan-ji Temple located near exit 1 of Tsukiji Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.
Because every tour is fully tailored to you, there is no fixed finishing point. Your tour leader will work around wherever you need to be next, whether that's back at the starting point, a particular station, or simply pointed in the right direction for your next plan. Just let them know during booking and they'll make it work.
You'll cover about 3–5 kilometres over the course of the tour. The streets are flat and generally wide, though during busy periods the crowds can make them feel narrower and you may find yourself weaving in and around people. Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended.
It can include these areas. The tour focuses around the Tsukiji Outer Market area, where there is plenty to keep you engaged throughout. That said, Hamarikyu Gardens, Tsukishima Monjya Street and Ginza are nearby and can be added in as optional extensions of the tour. Whilst the tour takes place on flat streets, the lanes and alleys in the market area are very narrow and can be uneven in spots. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us before booking and we'll do our best to adapt the experience where possible.
Yes, as a private tour it can be adapted for families. That said, the tour has a strong focus on both history and seafood, and covers a lot of ground over three hours, so it is worth considering whether younger children will stay engaged throughout. Having a few distractions on hand for quieter moments is never a bad idea.
Wear everyday, casual clothing suitable for walking in. Comfortable shoes are essential. If you're visiting in summer, Japan can be very hot and humid, so be sure to dress lightly and consider a sun hat. In the rainy season (roughly June to mid-July), a compact umbrella or lightweight rain jacket is worth bringing. Layers are useful in spring and autumn when temperatures can drop in the evening.
Yes. As Japan remains a largely cash-based society, many of the smaller venues in Tsukiji do not accept cards. We recommend carrying at least ¥3,000–¥5,000 for optional food, drinks, or souvenirs during the tour. It’s also possible to stop by an ATM to get cash while on tour. For international cards, ATMs at 7-Eleven and Japan Post are the most reliable.
The tour runs in light rain as Tsukiji has plenty of covered alleys and indoor options, and your tour leader will adapt the route accordingly. We recommend bringing an umbrella just in case. In the event of severe weather (such as a typhoon warning), we will contact you as early as possible to discuss rescheduling or a refund.
Plans change, we get that. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Our tours come with free cancellation and rescheduling up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Cancellations or changes requested within 24 hours of the start time are non-refundable and will not be accepted. All deadlines are based on the local time of the experience.

Tipping is not expected or required. As it’s not a common custom in Japan, your tour leader won't be anticipating it. That said, if you had a great time and want to show your appreciation, it's always welcome and will mean a lot.
