Yokohama has red brick warehouses, Chinatown, a ferris wheel over the water, and a harbor that opened Japan to foreign trade in 1859. The prefecture keeps going, though. Kamakura, where the first samurai government ran the country, puts shrines a short walk from the beach, Hakone comes with Fuji on a clear day, and the banks of the Tama River fill with kids’ baseball games on a Saturday.
There is a lot of Kanagawa packed between the harbor and the mountains, and there’s plenty worth exploring in between.
